Discount presets
The Discounts tab is a small but useful section: pre-configured discount templates you apply at the till with one click.
What you configure
Each preset:
- Name: e.g., "Student 10%", "Senior 15%", "Staff 20%"
- Description: optional internal note
- Type: percentage OR fixed amount
- Value: the percent or amount
- Active / inactive: toggle off without deleting
- Order: shows up at the till in this order
How you use it at the till
During a sale, before finishing:
- "Add discount" button
- Pick from presets
- Discount applies immediately
Custom (off-preset) discounts are possible via "Custom", but presets are 90% faster.
Use case scenarios
Scenario 1: Standard salon presets
A salon at launch sets 5 presets: "Student 10%", "Senior 15%", "Staff 20%", "Returning 5%", "Custom" (one-off). Covers most cases.
Scenario 2: Seasonal discount
For February, add a "Valentine 10%" preset. March 1st, deactivate. Current presets stay clean.
Scenario 3: Refer-a-friend automation
"Friend referral 20%" preset automates the refer-a-friend discount. Reception just clicks, no manual math.
Scenario 4: Complaint resolution
Customer complains about a past service. At the till, apply "Goodwill 15%" preset with note ("Past complaint, makeup"). Auditable, not random.
Tips
- 5-10 presets is the sweet spot: more than that, reception can't find them.
- Use descriptive names: "Senior 15%" beats "P3".
- Order by frequency: most-used at top.
- Presets don't replace strategy: if every customer gets a discount, it's not a discount, just a lower price.
- Discount preset and promo code are different: preset is one-off at the till, promo code is automated, code-based campaign.
