Calendar settings, display and customization
Calendar grid intervals, first day of week, cancellation reasons, and custom appointment statuses
Calendar settings
The Calendar tab controls the manager calendar's display and customization. Two main sections: display and customizations.
Display settings
First day of week
- Monday: European convention (default for Hungarian salons)
- Sunday: American convention
The weekly calendar view is affected by this.
Calendar start hour
The first row in the day's calendar. Typical values:
- 8:00 (early-opening salon)
- 9:00 (general)
- 10:00 (late-opening, massage/spa)
Hours before opening grey out for faster scanning.
Time grid interval
How much time per "row" on the calendar:
- 5 min: very tight, for fast-service salons
- 10 min: decent precision
- 15 min: default, good balance
- 20 min: looser, mainly massage/wellness
- 30 min: rare, only for long services
- 60 min: cleanest view, only for hour-only-booking salons
High contrast mode
Accessibility / readability, for staff who find grey text hard to read.
Cancellation reasons
List of cancellation reasons reception picks from when canceling a booking:
- "Customer requested"
- "Got sick"
- "Staff absent"
- "Schedule conflict"
- etc.
Statistics show which reason occurs most. You might notice "Staff absent" more than expected.
Custom appointment statuses
In addition to the standard 6 statuses (Booked, Confirmed, Arrived, Started, Completed, No-show, Cancelled), you can create your own:
- Name: "On waitlist", "Admin pending", "Walk-in today"
- Color: visual mark on calendar
- Icon: small icon on card
These appear in the booking modal's status picker.
Use case scenarios
Scenario 1: 30-min grid interval
Salon services are 60-90 min. 15-min grid is too detailed. Set to 30, calendar's cleaner.
Scenario 2: New cancellation reason
"Weather" cause is common but not in the list. You add it. Now reports show it as separate row.
Scenario 3: "On waitlist" custom status
Salon runs a waitlist. Custom "On waitlist" status with yellow. On calendar you see who's waiting vs confirmed.
Scenario 4: First day of week is Sunday
US-owned salon switches to Sunday. Weekly calendar starts from Sunday.
Tips
- 15-min grid is usually best: compromise between detail and clarity.
- Add custom statuses sparingly: each adds complexity. 8+ is too many.
- Cancellation reason reports are informative: monthly review, look for patterns.
- High contrast isn't only about accessibility: in bright light, reception tablet is more readable.
- Changes apply instantly: no separate save confirmation needed.
