Week and month views
When to switch off the day view, and what week, 3-day, and month views are good for
Week and month views
The day view is great for managing today, but sometimes you need to zoom out. Bookinda has three other views you can switch to from the header: 3-day, week, and month.
Switching views
In the calendar header, the view switcher has four buttons (Day, 3 days, Week, Month). On mobile they collapse into a small dropdown next to the date. Just click to switch.
The currently selected date stays in focus, the layout around it changes.
3-day view
Same layout as the day view but three days side by side. Each day still has its own staff columns, just narrower.
When to use it:
- You want to see today, tomorrow, and the day after at a glance.
- A customer asks "do you have anything in the next couple of days?" and you don't want to flip back and forth.
- For salons with steady weekly rhythm but unpredictable mid-week activity.
Week view
A 7-day strip, Monday to Sunday. Each day is a vertical column showing all appointments stacked by time. Staff columns are not separated here, you see the day as one merged stream.
When to use it:
- For weekly planning, "is Friday filling up?", "how does next week compare to this week?"
- When tracking weekend vs weekday demand.
- For planning marketing pushes (you can spot quiet days).
Month view
A traditional grid: rows of weeks, columns of weekdays. Each cell shows the day with a count or summary of bookings.
When to use it:
- For monthly overview, vacation planning, or spotting how busy a holiday week looks.
- Click any day to jump straight back to the day view for that date.
Horizontal layout (resources)
When you have many staff or rooms, the standard vertical layout can get cramped. Open Calendar Settings (the gear icon in the header) and switch to the horizontal layout. Time runs across the top, staff or resources are stacked as rows. This view only works on day-equivalent zoom (Day or 3-day mode).
Quick tips
- The arrow buttons in the header always step by the current view's unit: 1 day in day view, 1 week in week view, 1 month in month view.
- "Today" works in every view and lands you on the current date with the same zoom you had.
- The Date picker is faster than clicking the arrows for big jumps.
- If you want to print or screenshot a schedule, week view is usually the cleanest.
