Assigning services to team members

Set which services each colleague can perform, and what price tier applies to her

Assigning services to team members

A new colleague can't be booked for services until you tell Bookinda which services she's qualified to perform. The Services tab on her profile is where you do this.

Where to assign

Open a team member's profile, click the Services tab. You see your full service catalog, with checkboxes next to each one.

For each service the member can perform, check the box. Optionally:

  • Override price tier (if your service uses tiered pricing): this colleague's price for this service.
  • Override duration (rare, but useful if a colleague is faster or slower than the service default).

How assignments affect bookings

  • In the booking modal: when you pick a service, only assigned staff appear in the staff dropdown.
  • In smart booking: only assigned staff are considered for that service.
  • In online booking: customers can only pick from assigned staff.
  • Reports: per-staff service revenue uses the assignments to attribute correctly.

If you try to book an unassigned staff for a service, you'll see a warning ("This staff doesn't perform this service"). You can override, but it's a flag to double-check.

Tiered pricing per staff

If your service has tiered pricing (e.g. "Haircut" is 5,000 Ft for Junior, 8,000 Ft for Senior, 12,000 Ft for Master), assigning a staff to a service automatically picks her tier based on her staff level. You can also manually override the tier on a per-service basis.

Use case scenarios

Scenario 1: Junior stylist starts with limited services

A new junior can do men's cuts and basic haircuts, but not color. You assign her: Men's haircut, Women's haircut, Wash & blowdry. Color services unchecked. She can't be booked for color, no risk of over-promising.

Scenario 2: Master colorist, restricted services

Your most senior colorist only does color and treatment work. Hair cuts go to others. You assign her: All color services, Olaplex treatment, Botox treatment. Cuts unchecked. Her calendar fills with her best work.

Scenario 3: Cross-trained therapist

A massage therapist also does facials. You assign her: All massage services + Classic facial + Deep cleansing facial. The salon utilises her flexibility, customers can book either.

Scenario 4: Tier upgrade

Anna started as Junior, now she's promoted to Senior. You go to her Services tab and bulk-update her tier from Junior to Senior. Her future bookings price at the higher tier.

Scenario 5: New service rollout

The salon launches "Hydra-glow facial". You add it to the service list. Then go to each esthetician's Services tab and check the new service. Within minutes, the new service is bookable.

Tips

  • Assign immediately when adding a colleague: an unassigned colleague is invisible in the booking flow. The first impression of "she's available" matters.
  • Audit when adding new services: when you add a new service to your catalog, remember to assign it to the right staff. Otherwise it's invisible.
  • Use overrides carefully: a per-staff price or duration override is fine occasionally, but if you're routinely overriding, the service tier system might be set up wrong.
  • Cross-train, then assign: as colleagues learn new techniques, expand their service assignments. It's a powerful retention move (more skill = more services to book = more income).
  • Don't assign services they can't do: it sounds obvious, but salons sometimes assign all services to everyone "to fill up the calendar". Customers feel cheated when the result isn't what was promised.
