Schedule settings, slots and intelligent gap avoidance
Time-slot interval, buffer time, intelligent slot optimization
Schedule settings
This is where you control your booking page's time logic: how often you offer slots, what buffer between bookings, and how to avoid a fragmented calendar.
Where to find it
Settings → Online Booking → Schedule section.
Time-slot interval
How much time per "slot" on the booking page. The customer sees available times in increments of this.
- 5 min: very tight, for fast-service salons (e.g., 15-20 minute cuts only)
- 15 min: default, good balance. Customer doesn't feel restricted, you don't fragment the calendar.
- 30 min: cleaner view if your services are 30+ minutes by default.
- 60 min: only when every service starts on the hour (e.g., massage).
Buffer time between bookings
An auto-inserted gap between bookings. E.g., 5-min buffer = next booking can only start 5 min after the previous ends.
Useful for:
- Stylist has breathing room
- Room/equipment can be sanitized
- Lateness can absorb without making the next customer wait
Typical values: 0, 5, 10, 15 minutes.
Intelligent slot optimization
When on, the booking page doesn't show slots that would leave fragmented gaps in your calendar. Example:
- Today: 09:00-10:00 booked, 11:00-12:00 booked. The 10:00-11:00 gap is free.
- A new 30-minute booking would land at 10:30. That leaves a 30-minute "lonely gap" 10:00-10:30 unbookable.
- Intelligent slots on: doesn't offer 10:30, only 10:00 or shifts to a different way.
Calendar stays cleaner, fewer 15-30 minute holes you can't fill.
Use case scenarios
Scenario 1: Fast nail studio
You keep 15-min slot grid because manicures are under 30 min. Buffer 0. Maximum capacity.
Scenario 2: Spa with treatment rooms
30-min grid, 15-min buffer. Staff has time to sanitize, customers don't collide in the hallway.
Scenario 3: Busy hair salon
Intelligent slots on. Calendar stays tidy, no big half-empty gaps. Stylists more productive.
Scenario 4: New salon, few bookings
Intelligent slots off (for now). Give every option to the customer. Later, as bookings fill, turn it on.
Tips
- 15-min grid is ideal for most salons: balance of granularity and cleanliness.
- Buffer is quality of life: 5-10 min buffer reduces stress, improves customer experience.
- Intelligent slot optimization boosts utilisation: avoids a gap from becoming a 30-min half-slot. A bit strict for a new salon.
- Doesn't conflict with service settings: per-service durations and buffers (set on services) override these when more specific.
