Industry profiles explained
What the industry type does in Bookinda and how to choose the right one for your business
Industry profiles explained
When you start with Bookinda, you pick an industry. This isn't a permanent label and it doesn't lock you into anything. What it actually does is shape the demo data the system installs, so you can explore the app with sample services that look like your business.
What an industry actually controls
The industry choice affects exactly two things on day one:
- The demo services that get pre-loaded (names, prices, durations)
- The service categories that appear by default
It does not change the menu structure, the staff role names, the way the calendar works, the reports, or any other behaviour. Bookinda is the same app regardless of industry. Pick the closest match and move on.

Picking the right one
Pick by what your biggest service category is. If you do nails plus a bit of pedicure, pick Nail Studio. If you're a spa that also offers a bit of massage, pick Spa & Wellness. The demo is just a starting point, you'll customize it later anyway.
What if my business is a mix?
Doesn't matter much. The demo data is just a placeholder so you can see how things look. After you've explored, you'll typically clear the demo and add your real services from scratch (or import them via CSV). At that point, the industry choice no longer matters.
You're free to add any service across any category, regardless of which industry you picked at the start. There's no enforcement of "this service belongs to that industry."
Can I change it later?
There's no "change my industry" button, because there's nothing to change. The industry only mattered when the demo was installed. Once you replace the demo with real data, the industry tag becomes meaningless.
If you really want to start over with a different demo set, ask support to clear everything and reinstall. But honestly, it's faster to just delete the demo services you don't want and add the ones you do.
