Creating commission profiles
New profile, flat-rate setup, staff assignment, date validity
Creating commission profiles
A profile is a reusable commission rule. Configure once ("Standard 25%"), assign to multiple staff.
Where to find it
Settings → Staff → Commissions tab → + New profile.
New profile fields
Basics
- Name (e.g., "Standard 25%," "Senior stylist 30%," "Junior 15%")
- Description (optional)
- Active / Inactive
Commission type
- Flat rate (single %)
- Tiered (separate article)
- Service-based (separate article)
Flat rate config
- Percent (e.g., 25%)
- Calculation base: Gross / Net
- Tip commission (toggle): on = also commission on tips
- Product commission (toggle): on = also commission products, can be different %
Validity
- Start date (effective from)
- End date (optional, fixed-term)
Staff assignment
After creating profile:
- Pick on staff profile page
- Or pick staff on the profile page
One active profile per staff at a time. Overlap warning shown.
Default profile
Mark a profile as "default." New staff get this automatically.
Profile editing
Editing affects only future commissions. Past records unchanged.
Profile deletion
Only deletable if no active assignments. Otherwise unassign first.
When to use it
Scenario 1, small salon, everyone gets the same 1 profile: "Standard 25% Flat." Everyone assigned.
Scenario 2, junior vs senior 2 profiles: "Junior 15%" + "Senior 30%." Staff level assignment.
Scenario 3, probation New staff on probation. Profile "Probation 15%," end date 3 months out. After expiry, manual switch to "Standard 25%."
Scenario 4, multi-location L1 "City Center 30%," L2 "Suburb 25%." Staff gets one or the other by location config.
Scenario 5, promotion period Christmas bonus +5%. New profile "Christmas Bonus 30%," end date Jan 5. Reverts at end.
Tips
- Profile name should be telling, "Standard 25%" beats "Profile 1."
- Always set the "Default" profile, saves time on new staff.
- Don't ignore overlap warnings, payout may duplicate.
- End date is optional but useful: seasonal promo, probation.
- Edit isn't retroactive (old records stay), feel free to experiment.
- One profile = one commission type: tiered + flat hybrid needs two profiles.
