Bank statement import (CSV)
Upload netbank statements with AI-based categorization, OTP, K&H, Erste, MKB, Raiffeisen support
Bank statement import
A month brings 30-50 bank transactions: rent transfer, supply invoices, food orders, Apple subscriptions. Recording all this manually is exhausting. Bookinda loads it from CSV and AI suggests a category for each.
Where to find it
Finances → Bank Import tab.
Supported banks
Bookinda recognizes 5 Hungarian bank CSV formats directly:
- OTP Bank
- K&H Bank
- Erste Bank
- MKB Bank
- Raiffeisen Bank
Plus a Generic option (columns: date, description, amount). And Auto-detect, the system tries to figure out from the file.
Import flow
1. Pick the bank
Dropdown to choose your bank, or leave on Auto-detect.
2. Upload CSV
File picker, choose the netbank export. Typically 5-50 KB.
3. Processing (Upload and preview)
AI analyzes each row and suggests a category from the description. Takes 5-15 seconds.
4. Preview
A table with each transaction:
- Import checkbox (only for expenses)
- Date
- Description (netbank text)
- Counterparty (if extractable)
- Amount (red expense, green income)
- Category dropdown (AI suggestion, editable)
- ⚡ icon (marks AI suggestion, hover for confidence %)
Income rows are skipped by default (Bookinda knows them from its own transactions). Uncategorized expenses are also skipped, add category manually.
5. Confirm
"Record X expenses" button. Only enabled rows go through, with category.
When to use it
Scenario 1, monthly routine Month start: download netbank statement, upload to Bookinda. 5 minutes, every expense booked. That's it.
Scenario 2, AI suggestion is off "Wolt restaurant" goes to supplies but you handle it separately. Change in the dropdown, move on. AI learns (suggests differently next month).
Scenario 3, suspicious transaction A large amount with unknown counterparty. Skip it. Look it up in netbank later, record manually via cash register.
Scenario 4, two months at once Sometimes a file holds 2 months. Upload it, only select the relevant transactions, or run twice (filter by date).
How the AI works
System analyzes each transaction description and matches against your salon's expense categories. E.g., "OTP MOBILE TOPUP" → "Phone", "BUDAPEST PARKING SD" → "Fuel/parking", "STUDIOPRESS RNT" → "Rent".
System also provides a confidence score (0-100%). High → it's sure, low → review.
Tips
- Create your own categories first (Settings → Expense categories), AI suggests more accurately.
- Income is not imported, Bookinda already knows it from cash register. Use bank import specifically for expenses.
- Watch for duplicates, if you have a recurring expense (monthly rent) and bank import also brings it, it shows up twice. Delete one or the other.
- AI suggestions are not 100% accurate, always scan the table before confirming.
- Import gets smarter over time, more months = better categorization.
- Don't import old transactions, only the current month. If you missed something, fill in manually via cash register.
