Targeting Customers & Services
Promo codes can be targeted to specific customers, services, and team members for more effective marketing campaigns.
Customer Targeting
Customer Scope Options
| Scope | Description |
|---|---|
| All Customers | Any customer can use the code |
| VIP Only | Only customers marked as VIP |
| Tagged Only | Only customers with specific tags |
| New Customers Only | Only first-time bookers |
How to Set Customer Scope
- In the promo code modal, go to the Applicability section
- Select the customer scope from the dropdown
- If using "Tagged Only", select the required customer tags
Service Targeting
All Services vs Specific Services
You can apply the discount to:
- All services - The code works on any service
- Specific services - Only selected services qualify
Category-Based Targeting
Target entire service categories:
- Select "Specific categories"
- Choose which categories qualify
- All services within those categories will be eligible
Product Targeting
Control product discounts:
- Enable or disable product discounts
- If enabled, choose all products or specific ones
Staff Targeting
All Staff vs Specific Staff
Apply the code to:
- All staff - Works with any team member
- Specific staff - Only works with selected staff members
Use Cases for Staff Targeting
- Promote new team members
- Exclusive codes for senior stylists
- Staff-specific promotions
Combining filters
All filters work together. For example:
- Code: VIPHAIR20
- Customer Scope: VIP Only
- Services: Hair category only
- Result: 20% off hair services for VIP customers only
Use case scenarios
Scenario 1: VIP-only thank you
"VIPGIFT2026" + VIP scope. Only VIPs can redeem. Sent in personal email. Public can't share or abuse it.
Scenario 2: Service-specific promo
"COLOR15" + Color service category only. Pushes color sales without diluting other services.
Scenario 3: New colleague boost
"NEWBELLA" + new staff filter. Customers booking with new colorist Bella get 15% off, builds her client base.
Scenario 4: Stacked filters
"VIPHAIR20" + VIP scope + Hair category. Works for VIPs booking hair services. Highly targeted.
Tips
- Tighter targeting protects margin: blanket discounts are expensive.
- Combine filters thoughtfully: too narrow = no redemptions; too broad = leaks revenue.
- Test with a sample customer: log in as her, check the filter works.
- Document which codes are which: by month one, you'll forget who VIPHAIR20 was meant for.
