Creating a promo code

Step-by-step guide to creating promotional discount codes

Creating Promo Codes

Follow these steps to create a new promotional code for your business.

Step 1: Open the Create Modal

  1. Navigate to Catalog > Promo Codes
  2. Click the Create Promo Code button
  3. The promo code creation modal will open

Step 2: Basic Information

Code

Enter the promo code that customers will use. Tips:

  • Use uppercase letters for readability
  • Keep it memorable (e.g., WELCOME20, SUMMER25)
  • Click Generate for an auto-generated code

Internal Name (Optional)

Add a descriptive name for internal reference. Customers won't see this.

Description (Optional)

Add notes about the promotion's purpose.

Step 3: Discount Settings

Discount Type

Choose between:

  • Percentage - Percentage off the total
  • Fixed Amount - Set amount off

Discount Value

Enter the discount value (e.g., 20 for 20% or 10 for $10 off).

Maximum Discount (Percentage only)

For percentage discounts, optionally cap the maximum discount amount to prevent large discounts on expensive services.

Step 4: Usage Limits

Total Usage Limit

Set how many times this code can be used in total. Leave empty for unlimited use.

Per-Customer Limit

Set how many times each customer can use this code.

Minimum Purchase Amount

Require a minimum cart value before the code can be applied.

Step 5: Save the Code

Click Save to create the promo code. It will be active immediately unless you've set a future start date.

Example: Welcome Discount

Create a welcome offer for new customers:

  • Code: WELCOME20
  • Discount Type: Percentage
  • Value: 20%
  • Max Discount: $50
  • Customer Scope: New Customers Only
  • Per-Customer Limit: 1

Use case scenarios

Scenario 1: Quick percentage code

"SUMMER25" 25% off all services, valid Jul 1-31, max 1 use per customer. Created in 2 minutes, posted on Instagram, generates 100+ redemptions.

Scenario 2: Fixed-amount thank-you

"VIPGIFT" 5,000 Ft off, VIP scope only, sent personally. Each redemption is a goodwill moment.

Scenario 3: Test before launch

Create the code with a 5-redemption limit. Try redemption yourself to verify it works as designed. Then bump the limit and launch publicly.

Scenario 4: Single-use, single-customer

"ANNA10" 10% off, customer scope: Anna specifically. One-off goodwill code.

Tips

  • Memorable codes: SUMMER25 beats X7K9P.
  • Set a max discount cap: 25% on a 50,000 Ft service is 12,500 Ft. Cap protects margin.
  • Test redemption before going public: try it yourself.
  • Per-customer limit: 1 prevents abuse.
