Email tracking overview

What we track, where to view, what to do with the data

Email tracking

Bookinda's email-tracking system measures every outgoing email: who opened, who clicked, when, on what device. From data we learn: better communication with customers.

Where to find it

/manager/connect/email/tracking – main dashboard.

What it tracks

Main events

  • Sent (SMTP accepted)
  • Delivered (recipient server accepted)
  • Opened (1×1 pixel tracking)
  • Clicked (URL rewrite tracking)
  • Bounced (hard / soft)
  • Unsubscribed
  • Complained (spam mark)

Metadata

  • Timestamp (second-precise)
  • Device (mobile / desktop / tablet)
  • Email client (Gmail / Outlook / Apple Mail / Yahoo / Thunderbird)
  • Source (marketing campaign / automation / system)
  • IP address (anonymizable, optional)
  • Referer header

What dashboard shows

Stats cards

  • Total sent + Open rate + Click rate + Bounce rate

Engagement scoring

  • 5 buckets (0-20, 21-40, 41-60, 61-80, 81-100)
  • Percent distribution

Top 5 engaged customer

  • Most active customers (name + score)

Best send time recommendation

  • AI-based: which day + hour is best (expected open rate)

Top 10 clicked links

  • Most-clicked links

Device / client breakdown

  • % mobile vs desktop
  • % Gmail vs Outlook

Recent events table

  • Last 10 events in detail

What to use it for

Scenario 1, low open rate Monthly newsletter 8% open. Best send time → "Thursday 10:00 → expected 22%." Replan.

Scenario 2, top engaged identification Top 5 engaged. Move to VIP segment, exclusive promos.

Scenario 3, device analysis 70% read on mobile. Templates mobile-friendly? Check.

Scenario 4, campaign dispute Customer says "didn't receive." Recent events → search name. Sent + Delivered → spam.

What we DON'T track

  • Customer email content (privacy)
  • Salon internal chat messages
  • Transactional SMS (separate SMS tracking)

Channel selectivity

Email tracking toggleable per channel:

  • Marketing email: tracking ON (default)
  • Transactional email: tracking ON (default), can be off for privacy
  • System email: tracking OFF (password reset, security alert)

Tips

  • Dashboard deserves weekly check, not just month-end.
  • Engagement score can be customer-segmentation base: high-score customers earn more.
  • Best send time only accurate after 3+ months of data.
  • IP anonymization default 30 days, stricter retention configurable for GDPR.
  • Do-Not-Track header is respected, those customers aren't tracked.
  • 90-day retention default, older events auto-deleted.
